Mr. Xing-Fu Mai, the deceased chairman, was born in Dayuan Township, Taoyuan County. In 1967, when Taiwan’s business and industries were about to start, the deceased chairman started from scratch to create Hsin Tung Yang with his unequaled perseverance and ideals. He began to produce and sell processed meat products. The current store, situated on Wu-Chang Street, is the place of the company’s earliest origin.
At the beginning of our company’s start-up, the deceased chairman had set up the spiritual benchmark of “promoting delicate and internationalized Chinese food” to progress and enhance the aspects of production techniques, business management, marketing, and R&D. Hence, Hsin Tung Yang’s business can flourish prosperously to have a widely-spread and world-renowned reputation that has laid the foundation for Taiwan’s food industry to develop internationally. Hsin Tung Yang also continues to grow and prosper. Our stores have been established, one by one, nationwide. Our store in the departure area in Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, symbolic of international image, and our overseas branches have been established in succession— all of them have proved the deceased chairman’s farsighted business wisdom.
In 1982, in order to expand overseas business, the deceased chairman was often busy running about the business everywhere and he was seldom in the country. Because of his kindness, the deceased chairman had numerous visitors every day. However, the deceased chairman paid special attention to communication with his subordinates. Even though he might be very busy, he would schedule to listen to his subordinates’ opinions as much as possible, so as to encourage and care about his affiliated employees. During the busy hours, whenever there was a holiday, he even instructed the kitchen personnel to add food or showed up in person in the store to boost the morale. In addition, the deceased chairman always supported our cooperative vendors. He not only treated them with courtesy, but also solved their problems spontaneously. Therefore, our company often purchases the best quality products at the most inexpensive prices— it echoes with “Goodwill results from quality, while quality is ensured by goodwill”.
The deceased chairman was also quite zealous for sponsoring social charity. He had successively served in important positions in charity groups. He had made private and anonymous donations of innumerable money to help the domains of physical education, police, fire fighting, and the poor. Then, he established the Mai’s Hsin Tung Yang Foundation in 1984, one of the actual deeds for benefiting young students and giving back to society.
The deceased chairman worked hard to run business his entire life; to successfully create many kinds of business. However, he never slowed down his own work pace. During the time before he was about to fall ill, he still engaged in policy-making and worked hard for the management of our store in the departure area in Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, the preparation and establishment of the factory in Dayuan, and the development of the cooperative relationship with international enterprises. Many people adore the deceased chairman’s spirit of diligence, activeness, and hardship-defying in his leadership. They also profoundly admired the deceased chairman for his broad manner in paying attention to humanity, caring for his subordinates, and being humble even though he had made great achievements.
On lunar Sep. 14, 1985, the deceased chairman Mr. Xing-Fu Mai suddenly passed away due to a relapse of hypertension. He had lived only 44 years. All the business and industry fields were astounded. They all felt sorry that he died so young. Our entire staff also wept loudly from sorrow.
